نوشته شده توسط : ashley

Google Chrome is among the most used web browsers. As such it is common that some users may encounter strange errors and bugs that make browsing a chore. If that ever happens, you can simply reset Chrome to the default settings. Here's how.

Not just you may face strange issues like downloading proxy script error or awaiting proxy tunnel issue, etc., but with time, because of all the extensions you put in, Chrome can become slower or operate in the methods you might not expect. In those cases, you may either completely reinstall the browser, or you can simply reset Chrome.

Resetting is really a much simpler task and also you do not have to download and install the software again. So, without ado, let me demonstrate how you can reset Chrome browser in Windows 10.

Basically, there are two ways to reset the Chrome browser. The very first method will only reset the Chrome settings. This really is useful if you want to revert Chrome to the default settings. The 2nd technique is for a full reset. Whenever you perform a full reset, the browser will essentially become a new installation.

Reset Chrome Settings to Default

Should you just want to reset Chrome settings this technique is perfect. This course of action will reset your startup page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs. Additionally, it will also disable all extensions and clear temporary data like cookies.

Note: Your bookmarks, history, and saved passwords will not be touched or cleared.

1. Open Chrome browser, click on the "Menu" icon appearing on top right corner after which click on the "Settings" option.

2. In the Settings page, scroll down and then click the "Advanced" option.

3. Scroll down again and then click the "Reset settings to their original defaults" option.

4. You will see a warning pop-up suggesting what the resetting actually does. Click the "Reset Settings" button to carry on.

That's it. You are done resetting the Chrome browser.

Full Reset Chrome and Make It Completely new

When you do a full reset, your Chrome browser will essentially become a new browser. That's, the settings, your browsing history, cookies, extensions, bookmarks, etc., will be removed.

1. Close the Chrome browser if it's open.

2. Press Win + R to spread out the Run dialog box. In the blank field, type %LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome and press Enter.

3. Within the File Explorer, you will notice a folder called User Data. Delete that folder and then any other folder.

That's it. Launch the Chrome browser and you'll see the welcome screen. Register for your Google account and the browser should automatically download the sync data like bookmarks, extensions, history, etc.
